OAG Reports Increased Flights for 2002 Holiday Season - US Media

Chicago - December 18, 2002 -Options for U.S. air travel have risen this holiday season, according to OAG, the world's leading independent source of flight information.

Compared to December 2001 data, U.S. airports are showing increased scheduled service, particularly those hit hardest after September 11. These findings are part of the first OAG quarterly report on global airline schedules.

According to the report, the number of flights available to and from JFK, LaGuardia and Washington Reagan airports has increased by 21%, 19% and 92%, respectively. Similarly, overall scheduled flights for the 25 U.S. airports analysed in this report are up an average of over 8%, with significant increases in Chicago, Denver, Phoenix, Minneapolis and Memphis.

"This has been a turbulent time for the entire airline industry," commented Ivan Bekkers, vice president, OAG data, Americas. "We haven't reached pre-September 11 levels and the fate of future flight schedules is unknown, but in the short term, consumers can take comfort in knowing that there are more flights available to them."
